78... Guest 78?!

And here... we... go!!!

Have you ever asked yourself how many times in a ten minute period you've heard the number '78'? Yeah. Neither had I until Wednesday night!!!

My Dad scored some stellar tickets to the Jazz vs. Bulls game! How fun huh? I hadn't been to a game in over a year, and Kaden hadn't ever been, so we jumped on the opportunity to attend! Because we are people who stick with what we like, it was suggested that we stop at good old In 'N Out burger on the way to the game! Fun! We make it a habit of swinging by there when we head out to sporting events of all nature! Just call it tradition :)

Anyways... For those of you (and you MUST be crazy) who haven't eaten at that blessed place, In 'N Out assigns you a "Guest Number" when you order. Sounds like it would be utterly organized right? Wrong-O!

We placed our order and hovered over a table like vultures so we had a place to sit... It's just what you do! After the typical pre-meal chit chat, I noticed something. Shocker. The girl at the counter was repeatedly calling for "Guest 78?". Hmmm... where could this guest be? How could they just up and disappear after placing an order? Because I know that it is my first priority to pay for food and then abandon it. It just makes sense!!

As the look of wonderment swept across this girl's face, she knew she had to make a bold move. Can you guess what she did? Yep. You got it! She reached for the microphone/pager thing. In a slightly timid voice "Guest 78? Your order is ready. Guest 78." Notice... the first time it's a question. Where ever could you be 78? The second time it's a statement. 78. Get up here and grab your red tray! As you could probably assume, guest 78 was a total no show. Do you think the girl gave up? Not a chance!

First girl went to grab second girl who had zero success as well. Second girl grabbed first boy and he firmly stated that "Guest 78" had an order and it was ready! Watch out world.. That boy has a future in number calling! It became very apparent that this guest 78 had left the building. All the customers knew it, but the employee's took some convincing.

Here comes the intersection for this post... You now know what the employee's were doing, but you don't know what my mom was doing. While we're sitting there listening to employee after employee shout out for "Guest 78!!!", my silly mother is convinced that they are calling for us. We are 87. Now, maybe the first time I could see it. But 63 employees later, I'm pretty sure they have the number right! Ha! So there I was hearing about this mystery guest and laughing at my mom who "Just knows that it could be us!" Talk about hysterical!

After we picked up our food, 9 guests later, I heard the employees give one last shout out to the missing "guest 78". They were just as baffled as the rest of us. What a waste! You order, pay and abandon. Sounds like a crime of hunger to me! :)
