tHrEe iTeMs ThAt aRe ME!!

This past week my mom and I attended a Relief Society social/birthday party. For part of the theme, we were supposed to place 3 items that described us in a paper bag. Well... I don't know about you, but I found that QUITE difficult. Every time I thought I had found the perfect thing, ooops! There is another item that totally makes up a part of me. Now, if you were to ask me what three things made up who I am, I could very easily answer: Kaden (big shocker, I know :), School and working. Sounds fun right? But as I took into consideration what really made me "me", I thought of a ton of other things. Even though I am a mom, and take that job extremely serious, that fact doesn't make me who I am. That may sound odd, but at the end of the day, I am more than a mom. I'm a person who enjoys doing things for myself and creating hobbies that I don't have to share with motherhood. This may be sounding a bit selfish, but we all need time to ourselves every once in a while! Back to my items for the bag... for those of you who know me well, or barely know me at all, I have a SLIGHT weakness for Diet Coke. So even thought it was a church activity, and I'm sure those women thought I was insane, I stuck a good old 12 oz in my bag. It's just one of those things for me that I can enjoy even in a moment of chaos!

The next item I put in was a highlighter. School is seriously a huge deal for me! I have made my fair share of poor decisions on the academic level, so this time around I really changed my approach. I knew when I enrolled that school wasn't going to be a game. I was going to be relying on people to help me and I couldn't let them down. Not only was this a huge deal for me, but it's a big deal for Kaden too. By taking school seriously and doing what I need to do for us, Kaden will have a better future and I can provide for us without relying so much on other people. I will graduate with my associates in Business Administration this June and I can't wait! I'm planning on furthuring my education and continuing on for my bachelor's. If everything goes as planned, I will obtain my degree when Kaden is in Kindergarten. Because I dedicate so much of myself for school, I figured it needed to be represented in my bag!

My third item, (do you really think I could stop at just 3?! Ha! I just had to put in 4... I can't help it!), was the New Moon DVD!!! Yay for Twilight! Another thing that I love for myself! Not only did I enjoy reading all the books, but I've been to see each movie on opening day. I love getting together with all the girls to go see it! We absolutely have a BLAST!! For the release of the New Moon DVD I actually went to a midnight release party... It was hilarious! Don't get me wrong, I really do love the whole Twilight business, but some people are over the top! It was absolutely cracking me up! Yes, I'll admit it, I was wearing my Edward shirt and I thuroughly enjoyed having it on, but I was standing next to a lady who was decked out! I had to stifle my giggles the entire time! The pic for this item is girls night at New Moon! So way much fun!

Any guesses on my last item? Ha! I know that I said all that business about "even though I'm a mom, I'm still me"... Well if you thought for one second I could actually skip over the most important thing (person) in my life, you don't know me very well! For my Kaderbug, I decided to put in a racecar. He loves to play hotwheels and race cars on his race track! But besides all of that, he keeps me racing around! That little boy has the ability to keep me on my toes! I am so beyond grateful for him and the way he has changed my life. He is my little angel and was sent to me to teach me how to be a better person! I couldn't ask for a better son and I'm continually amazed at how much he teaches me. I love my little guy to the Moon! (Notice the Lightning McQueen pillow!)

When all was said and done, I figured I had a good assortment of items and thought I might just be able to trick all those relief society ladies! HA!! Not so much! I swear every woman in that room said my name after they showed my items! It was hilarious... I suppose that I'm just one of those who can't help but show who I am to the world. It may have taken some time to get there, but I really couldn't be happier with where I am today. Of course I still have goals and dreams, and who knows? Maybe in 5 years I'll have totally different items to place in my bag. But for now, I'm me and I'm super happy about that! :)
